About Elika Davies
Elika Davies has a long family history of tending to animals. Her Great-Great Grand Father was one of the first Veterinarians in Alberta, her Great Grandmother bred purebred sheep, her Grand parents bred purebred horses and dogs. Her Mother, Crystal Davies, breeds Top Best In Show winning Lakeland Terriers under the Affirm prefix. With this rich history, it's no wonder Elika was practically born at a dog show. As soon as she was old enough to walk she began playing with dogs. Elika has always had a special ability to lovingly connect with each dog she meets.
Elika began Junior Handling in 2018 and has competed in the Alberta Junior Handling Provincial Finals in 2018, 2019, 2022, and now this year. In 2018 she was Runner Up in her Junior Novice Class. The 2019 Provincial Finals was postponed until August 2021 due to covid. That year Elika was awarded First In Intermediate Novice Class and won Provincials as Best Overall Junior Handler! Sadly, that year due to covid, there was no Junior Nationals Competition. In 2022 Elika won her Intermediate Open Class. Twice Elika has received the Arkeno Award for the Highest Scoring Junior Handler in the Province. In October of 2023 Elika had the opportunity to attend her first American Kennel Club Junior Handling competition held on one of the biggest dog show weekends in the USA at the Montgomery County Kennel Club weekend. Each day she competed she won First In Class and on Saturday at the Devon Dog Show Association she won Best Overall Junior Handler under Judge Linda Clark. As a handler, Elika has shown many different breeds and has worked for Professional Handlers. As an assistant Elika has worked for Lori-Ann Fischer, Tammy Sawatzky, Elyse Fernets, Connie Krhon and Trina Neil. Since the beginning of 2024 Elika has found a permanent job assisting for Xander Scriver, CPHA. This opportunity has opened up many amazing opportunities including winning 4 Best In Shows! Watch for Elika at future shows! Aside from Junior Handling, Elika is a top academic student. She has received the Student of the Year Three Times and Spirit of Youth Award Twice from Paul Rowe Jr/Sr High School. Elika is a musician/singer and is capable of playing Violin, Cello, Clarinet, and Oboe. In 2022 she played "Sharpay" in Paul Rowe Jr/Sr High Schools production of High School Musical.
