Upon completing a questionnaire, I will keep it on file. If a puppy becomes available, this is where I look to to seek out the next people to offer a puppy, or young dog.
I do not breed often but when I do I take our litters very seriously. The goal of the AFFIRM Kennels breeding program is to develop a line of Lakeland Terriers that will improve the overall health of the breed while conforming to the American Kennel Club and Canadian Kennel Club Breed Standard, in both temperament and physical characteristics (conformation). Since my puppies are sometimes placed as companions in loving homes, I need to make sure that they will live long, happy and healthy lives. I believe every breeding should be done to create dogs with a purpose and I have a life commitment to each dog I breed. I am a member of the US Lakeland Terrier Club and Canadian Kennel Club and subscribe to their code of ethics. Owning one of my puppies is a 10+ year commitment to continue the work I have done in producing a quality dog. It is true that no breeder can 100% guarantee the health of any animal but, through careful breeding standards, testing all breeding stock and genetic screening, I make every effort to avoid any problems. Since I am not running a "volume kennel" I can be very selective in planning the direction of the Affirm line and are proud of the puppies I produce. Things you should be aware of, if desiring one of my puppies, is a few of my philosophies and expectations:
